WESTLEIGH, INSTOW AND WEST YELLANDCOMMUNITY ON SHOWSATURDAY, 16TH JULY 2011 MISSION STATEMENTThis is a summer show inspired by our special environment of beach, dunes, wetland, rivers, sea, farms and woodland to celebrate our local distinctiveness with a strong environmental theme (conservation, recycling and sustainability).
ORGANISATION The ‘Community on Show’ offers an opportunity for participation and enjoyment by all ages in order to demonstrate the villagers gardening, creative and domestic skills and is an amateur show. The children and adult classes, exhibits and contests have skill and fun elements. Everyone is invited to join in. The Committee members are residents of Westleigh, Instow and West Yelland. The show is a self-funding and not-for-profit enterprise.
EVENT SCHEDULE 9 am Children’s Crabbing Contest – Instow Quay 10 am Judging of Exhibits – Instow Parish Hall closed to public 1 pm Grand Opening - Quay Lane, outside Instow Parish Hall 1:15 pm Show Opens - Instow Parish Hall, Instow Beach and Commodore Hotel car park 1:15-5 pm Cream Tea, Instow Parish Hall; Barbecue and Crępe Stall, Instow Beach 1:15 pm Music Corner Opens with the Two Rivers Wind Ensemble followed by All-Age Amateur Talent Show, Snail, and Bideford Phoenix Morris Dancers - Commodore Hotel car park and Marine Parade 1:30-2:30 pm Sand Castle & Sand Sculpture Competition – Instow Beach 2-4 pm Children’s Face Painting - Instow Beach 2:30 pm Boules - Instow Beach 3 pm Children’s and Adults’ Bicycle Races - Instow Beach 3:30 pm Grand National Crab Races - Instow Beach 4 pm Family Dog Show - Instow Beach 5 pm Collect exhibits - Instow Parish Hall 5:15 pm Sale of items not collected - Instow Parish Hall 6 pm Instow in Bloom beach clean 6:15 pm Community on Show cup race, North Devon Yacht Club
